Myofascial Release MFR is the three-dimensional application of sustained pressure and movement into the fascial system in order to break down restrictions. Fascia is an extensive network of connective tissue throughout the body that is subjected to the stresses and strains of life just like the other soft tissues in the body. Myofascial Release can improve any distortions or restrictions that develop in it can influence the functioning of other soft tissues around it so it is important to ensure that it remains pliable and malleable. Myofascial Release Techniques used to mobilize the fascia usually involve sustained stretching and/or dry skin rolling (done without oil/creams) to mobilize the superficial tissues. Good results are found with Myofascial Release for cervical and back pain, headaches, fibromyalgia and other chronic pain.
